Staff at legal firm Browne Jacobson LLP have been showing off their gardening skills in a sunflower-growing competition in aid of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, which is their charity of the year for 2014.
The firm has organised a series of events for the Charity’s Lymphoma Research Fund, including a strawberry tea afternoon which raised £235.04 earlier this summer.
Winner of the hotly contested sunflower competition, which raised £137, was HR systems analyst Cherie Stephenson, with a sunflower of 66 inches. She won a bottle of Champagne. Lynn Woods, a PA in the insurance & public risk department, is pictured measuring the super sunflower.
“We were delighted to be able to present almost £9,500 recently to Hayward House Hospice, which was our charity of the year for 2013,” said Craig Sharples, a member of the community action team at Browne Jacobson. “It was an interesting, worthwhile and humbling experience to visit the Hospice. As a company, we aim to support deserving local causes, and are pleased that this year we will continue to help Nottingham Hospitals Charity by raising funds for the Lymphoma Research Fund.”
The team is now planning the next batch of fund-raising challenges.
