A team of seven cyclists from Handelsbanken Nottingham City Gate have very generously presented Nottingham Hospitals Charity with a cheque for £10,504.53 raised by taking on a mammoth cycle from London to Paris in the summer.

Andrew Tomlinson, David Carlton-Ashton, John Clay, Paulo Valerio, Stuart Boddington from Handelsbanken, along with customers Peter May of NEMS Healthcare Ltd and Mark Richardson of Boxall Brown & Jones, pedalled more than 300 miles in just three days to raise vital funds for Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

Nick Lawford, Fundraising Manager at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, commented: “The commitment shown by the members of the Handelsbanken team to training and cycling has been matched by their commitment to fundraising for Nottingham Hospitals Charity. As a result they have raised a phenomenal amount of money which will support patients and families at Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

“We are so grateful to Andrew, David, John, Paolo, Stuart, Peter and Mark and to all of their colleagues, clients, family and friends who have sponsored them on their way. Cycling 300 miles in three days is no mean feat and neither is raising over £10,500!”

Nottingham Children’s Hospital – which is based within Queen’s Medical Centre – cares for more than 40,000 young people every year. Children from across the region are treated for everything from cancer and leukaemia to organ transplantation and broken bones.

The money raised by the Handelsbanken team will help to make the experience of being in hospital for these young patients and their families as positive as possible – brightening up wards, supporting a weekly youth club, and enhancing the first class care given by hospital staff.

Donations given in support of the Handelsbanken pedallers will support young patients at every step of their treatment and care. By improving the environment for patients and by providing additional services like complementary therapy and specialist play workers, Nottingham Hospitals Charity can make time spent in hospital better, brighter and more fun for the extraordinary children that we see every day.

Handelsbanken Nottingham City Gate incorporates a team of 13 bankers who serve both individuals and businesses. Locally, Handelsbanken also has branches in West Bridgford and Mansfield and has announced plans for a fourth Nottinghamshire branch, in Newark, that’s expected to open in 2016.
