Our fundraisers are always amazing us with their incredible efforts. Our supporter Andrew Norton recently honoured his father’s memory by taking on the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours. Andrew explains why he decided to raise money for the Trent Cardiac Unit.
“Two years ago marked 10 years since my Dad, Keith Norton, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack. We’ve been through a lot since my dad passed away but we’ve always come together to raise money in his memory. We really wanted to take on a challenge to celebrate his life and aim to make a difference to families who may be going through a similar situation.
“We really wanted to raise money for a local charity that we have seen support loved ones which is why we chose the Trent Cardiac Unit at Nottingham City Hospital.
“We aimed to do the challenge to mark the anniversary of his death but sadly the pandemic halted those plans so we had to wait until it was safe for all of us to get together and honour his memory.
“There were over 20 of us who took on the challenge of climbing the three largest peaks in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Mount Snowdon) in just 24 hours.
“The aim is to raise £10,000 which will help support funding for exceptional staff development programmes, fund facilities, equipment and services that directly enhance patient experiences.”
We’re incredibly grateful to Andrew, his friends and family and supporters
