Being diagnosed with breast cancer can be a scary and daunting experience. We’re proud to support colleagues across Nottingham’s hospitals to provide the best care, from diagnosis, treatment and post-treatment.

Your generous donations have helped fund life-saving equipment, research into the disease and calming spaces for patients who are undergoing treatment. Some of these projects include:

Supporting Professor Stephen Chan in providing clinical research

With your support, we've funded a gene test that identifies the most effective cancer treatment, enabling clinicians to personalise treatment plans for each patient.

Provide patients with a quicker diagnosis

A specialist Contrast Injector System reduces the need for biopsies and MRIs, providing a clearer view of breast tissue and making it easier to detect abnormalities.

Helping to bring confidence to those who have undergone surgery

A bespoke bra shop at the Nottingham Breast Institute provides comfortable, well-fitting bras for post-mastectomy patients. These bras are also available to patients on Harvey 2 who cannot visit the shop.

Thanks to the local community's fundraising, including the organisers of the Black and Green Ball, a waiting area has been transformed! We were able to provide new artwork and furniture to help patients feel more comfortable during their wait for treatment.

Small pieces of equipment are making a big difference

When a patient undergoes a breast cancer biopsy, a quick and thorough diagnosis is crucial for pathologists at Nottingham hospitals. We've provided state-of-the-art microscopes to ensure the most accurate diagnosis possible.

Sallyann Petts

We’re incredibly grateful to Sallyann for her hard work in running the Strawberry Tea Parties, raising over £18,000 for breast cancer care and support in Nottingham. After being diagnosed with breast cancer twice, she wanted to give back and celebrate with her loved ones while making a difference for patients like her.

Breast Cancer Support Group

After 30 years together, the Breast Cancer Support Group said goodbye in 2023. During this time, they worked tirelessly to fundraise for Professor Stephen Chan's research, raising over £240,000 to support specialist research and facilities at the Nottingham Breast Institute

Black and Green Ball

Each year, two fundraisers organise the event of the year: the Black and Green Ball. This staple event brings together supporters and family members, who don their best black and green outfits to raise money for patients undergoing treatment in Nottingham.

Sara Lomas

Sara Lomas took on the challenge of the Virtual London Marathon to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for her mum after her cancer diagnosis. Although her mum sadly passed away, Sara’s fundraising has ensured that her memory lives on through the support of other patients.
