Well, can you believe it, this month marks four years of Zephyr's centre offering support to bereaved families in Nottinghamshire. Four years ago when we first opened we held a lovely party with around 250 people joining us! Whilst Covid has seen to it that we haven't got together in person this year, or last, we certainly have reason to celebrate...

Since April 2017, Zephyr's has welcomed around 4,000 visits to our specialist bereavement centre, and to our online sessions and telephone counselling appointments. During the pandemic we have felt an even greater need for our services; as Zephyr's became a more important source of solace and comfort to bereaved families than ever before.

We're based at Nottingham City Hospital, and as part of Nottingham Hospitals Charity we rely entirely on donations to fund our support for parents and families who have experienced the death of a baby or child of any age or gestation. It costs £30,000 to run Zephyr's every year, which is not much, considering the priceless support, understanding and care we offer to so many.

Although we're not able to gather to share in all that Zephyr's has done for families, this year's fourth birthday appeal and Recipe Book feels an especially poignant and special way to mark our anniversary. The book has been collated by Jo and her husband Chris, who Zephyr's supported back when their twin boys River and Robin died a few years ago.

Not only that, but the exquisitely unique illustrations have been drawn by bereaved Grandma to Oscar, Rebecca Morledge, who visited our centre for support alongside her family, just before last year's first lockdown. The book itself is a gathered anthology of yumminess from our friends and supporters, and we think it's not only really delicious, but a lovely way folk can show their support.

So, what can you do if you'd like to be part of the party?

Make a donation and receive our beautifully illustrated recipe book as a free PDF download! (Free download only available during our birthday month of April!)

Buy a limited-edition printed recipe book, with all proceeds coming to Zephyr's, so we can carry on supporting bereaved families.

Join our free Evening Quiz,
hosted on Zoom by BBC Presenter Fi Glover - take part for fun times and a chance to win some lovely vouchers and prizes! Friday 30th April 8-10pm.

And of course, our support for bereaved families continues throughout the year, and we continue to rely on donations throughout too. If you'd like to help any time, you can make a one-off donation and find out more about fundraising for the centre on our Zephyr’s appeal page.

A huge thank you from all at Zephyr's, we're so grateful for your support - here's to many more years to come!
