This weekend, thousands will take to the streets of London for one of the most iconic races in the world – the TCS London Marathon – and among them is Izzy, a newly qualified nurse and passionate supporter of Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
Izzy has been a student nurse at the University of Nottingham for the past three years and spent five of her training placements within Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). For Izzy, those placements weren’t just part of her course – they were some of the biggest highlights of her nursing journey.
“They have all been highlights of the course and now I am a Nursing graduate working at NUH in a department I enjoy,” says Izzy on her Just Giving page.
“I want to run for the NUH charity to show them my support, as they have shown me theirs at times when I needed it.”
Now fully qualified and working in a department she loves; Izzy is lacing up her trainers and taking on the London Marathon to give back to the hospital that supported her every step of the way.
What makes her story even more impressive? When she found out she’d secured a place in the marathon, she had no previous running experience at all!
“I got into the London Marathon by pure luck and with zero running experience!” she said.
Since Izzy found out she’d secured a place, she’s been training hard, and we are so proud to have her representing Nottingham Hospitals Charity on this incredible challenge!
