We’d like to say a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to all our supporters, who have helped raise more than £24,500 for patients, families and staff at Nottingham’s NHS hospitals this Christmas and New Year period.
Our fantastic fundraisers and donors have donned their fancy footwear for Festive Sock Day, given gifts for children in hospital over the festive period, and signed up to have their Christmas trees recycled in aid of their local hospitals.
Our popular Christmas tree recycling scheme had its biggest year ever, with more than 1,100 people donating and signing up to have their old trees collected and recycled, raising around £17,000!
With the help of an army of volunteers from local businesses and community groups, we collected trees from across Nottinghamshire in the New Year, which were all taken to be chipped and recycled locally.
Alongside our Christmas tree recycling scheme, donations from our supporters also enabled us to provide gifts for children in hospital over Christmas. Thanks to donations to our ‘Grant a Christmas Wish’ campaign, we were able to provide toys, books and games to bring a smile to the faces of young patients at Nottingham Children’s Hospitals over the festive period.
We also received hundreds of special donations and dedications as part of our annual ‘Lights to Celebrate’ campaign, which gives people the chance to dedicate a light in honour of a loved one, on one of our virtual Christmas trees.
And we had lots of fun sharing our first ever Festive Sock Day with our fantastic fundraisers, as well as receiving donations from supporters in lieu of sending Christmas cards.
Louise Knight, Head of Fundraising at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “We’d like to thank every single person who has been involved in helping raise over £24,500 for patients, families and staff at Nottingham’s hospitals this festive season.
“Whether you donned your festive socks, made a donation, or signed up for our Christmas tree recycling scheme, we are so grateful for your support. It makes a real difference to patients and their families, particularly those spending time in hospital over the festive period.
“I’d also like to give special thanks to all the volunteers who generously gave their time, energy and vehicles to be part of our Christmas tree recycling collections – we simply couldn’t have done it without you, and we’re thrilled to have raised around £17,000 through this year’s scheme.”
Thank you to everyone who supported Nottingham Hospitals Charity over the Christmas period – your gifts help us to make a real difference for patients, families and staff at Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.
