Today (Tuesday 26th April, 2022) we officially opened our new Robin Centre – where we care for parents and families after the loss of a baby or child.
We welcomed members of Team NUH who visited to take a look around the centre and find out how it will help patients and families in their care.
The Robin Centre is run by Nottingham Hospitals Charity, and provides a safe and comforting space where bereaved families can receive support, following the loss of a pregnancy, baby or child.
It offers a place where parents can meet with clinicians and bereavement support staff in a non-clinical environment, away from the main hospital building.
Barbara Cathcart, Chief Executive of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “I’m delighted to officially open The Robin Centre. This centre is a very special space, where bereaved parents and families can get the support they need, in safe and comfortable surroundings.
“This centre is a perfect example of why Nottingham Hospitals Charity exists– we know the staff at our hospitals already provide great care, but we are here to provide the added extras that can’t be delivered by the NHS, and that make a real difference to patients and their families at the most difficult of times. None of this would be possible without our generous fundraisers and donors.”
