On Sunday 29th September, Nottingham was filled with thousands of runners for the Robin Hood Half Marathon, including nearly 100 dedicated fundraisers supporting Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
Thanks to their incredible efforts and the overwhelming generosity of our supporters, this has been a record-breaking year, with over £55,000 raised, including Gift Aid – the highest total ever achieved for this event.
Despite the cloudy weather, our fundraisers brought their own sunshine to the event, each with a special reason for taking part. Annalisa, joined at the start line by her sister Chloe, was running to raise money for ward E39 after her son Robin was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer.
James, another of our brave runners, was taking part in memory of his dad Christopher, fondly named ‘Christmas Brian’ after he sadly passed away from bile duct cancer.
Once the main race was underway, the start line was cleared for the mini marathoners to tackle their 1.5-mile challenge around the embankment. Our fantastic volunteers made the day even more special by assisting in the charity tent and cheering on our runners as they passed the halfway point.
Michelle Dorman, Relationship and Events Manager said of the day:
