Showing our appreciation for Team NUH

Posted on: 14 Feb 2022

A special message from Nottingham Hospitals Charity Chief Executive, Barbara Cathcart

Two years ago, on 14th February 2020, the Nottingham Hospitals Charity team visited over 100 wards and areas across Nottingham’s hospitals, to deliver Valentine’s Day goody bags to our hard-working NHS colleagues.

That was the last time we were able to visit our Team NUH colleagues ’en masse’, with the Covid-19 pandemic hitting the hospitals hard soon afterwards.

This year, although unable to visit our NHS colleagues in person, we still want to share our appreciation for everything they do.

The past two years has shown us that staff at Nottingham Hospitals consistently go above and beyond the call of duty, for their patients, their colleagues, and the whole community.

At the start of the pandemic we were inundated with requests from local businesses, community groups and individuals who wanted to show their appreciation for the NHS workers at Nottingham’s hospitals – whether through donations of food parcels, essential items like toiletries, or monetary gifts to go towards providing much-needed wellbeing facilities.

We were astounded by the support our local community offered – just as we have been by the efforts that our Team NUH colleagues have gone to, every single day of the pandemic, to provide the very best care for their patients.

So this Valentine’s Day, although we can’t see you in person and shower you with chocolates and biscuits, we want to say a very special and heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all of Team NUH. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do, to care for the people of Nottingham. We truly appreciate you, and look forward to the day when we can once again show our gratitude to you in person.
