This weekend (16th – 17th July) saw the return of our ever-popular Dragon Boat Race on the Nottingham Embankment after a two-year break, raising an incredible £20,835 so far.
Over 280 fundraisers took to the water and paddled through 30-degree heat to be crowned the fastest of the day. Some of the teams included staff teams from Nottingham Hospitals, such as Dietetics, Hayward House, Midwifery and Trauma. Teams from local businesses also joined in the action, including Mitchells of Mansfield, Dambuster Studio, 200 Degree Coffee and The Abdication Micropub.
On Saturday 11 teams took part, with palliative care centre Hayward House taking bronze, Mitchells of Mansfields team Mother Truckers takings silver and Mighty Ducks (NUH Spinal Advanced Practice Physiotherapists) taking top place and bagging the gold. The best dressed award went to another member of Team NUH, Afternoon Tea-riffic (Dietetics) who dazzled spectators with their homemade afternoon tea fancy dress.
On Sunday 7 teams took to the water with The Abdication coming out on top with gold, followed by Team 200 Degrees taking silver, and The Lifeguards taking bronze. Best dressed team went to the Boat Simulator (Dambuster Studios) as they rocked some incredible pirate outfits along with pirate flag. The top two teams then got to race Nottingham Anaconda Dragon Boat team and members of Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
A huge thank you to our incredible fundraisers from Team NUH and local businesses for taking part in the Dragon Boat Race, Nottingham Anaconda Dragon Boat Races, 200 Degrees and all our supporters for making the first Dragon Boat Race in three years, the best it could be.
