Take on a fundraising challenge for Nottingham's hospitals

Posted on: 3 Feb 2025

With spring around the corner, Nottingham Hospitals Charity is offering the perfect opportunity to get outdoors, get active, and do something special for a local good cause at the same time.

Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s ‘Big Six’ fundraising events kick off with a Charity Golf Day on Friday 16th May, at the picturesque Wollaton Park Golf Club. Get together a team of four and enjoy 18 holes of golf, plus a complimentary breakfast and two-course lunch, all in aid of Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

On Sunday 18th May the Charity’s Robin Run Fun Day returns to Sherwood Pines. This is a fantastic day out for families and keen runners alike – participants can choose from a 5k run, 10k run, or a one-mile family-friendly walk with clues and items to find along the way, plus fun activities back at the event village afterwards.

For anyone who enjoys an adrenaline rush and wants to take on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, the Charity is holding its annual skydive at Langar Airfield on Saturday 7th June. Sail through the sky from 13,000 feet high, and raise money for your chosen area of Nottingham’s NHS hospitals at the same time.

Next up is the Charity’s hugely popular Dragon Boat Race on the River Trent, which takes place on Saturday 5th July and Sunday 6th July, at the Victoria Embankment. Get together a team of 13 to 17 friends, family or colleagues, and enjoy a fun day of rowing on the river, all in aid of your chosen area of Nottingham’s hospitals.

As summer draws to a close, Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s flagship event, the Big QMC Abseil, takes place, on Saturday 6th September. Scale almost 100 feet down the side of one of the UK’s tallest hospitals, and raise money for the area of the hospital that means most to you at the same time.

Finally, Nottingham Hospitals Charity will return to the Robin Hood Half Marathon and Mini Marathon at the Victoria Embankment on Sunday 28th September. The 2024 event was a record-breaking year for the Charity, with participants raising more than £60,000 for Nottingham’s hospitals. This year, take on the 13.1 mile run, or the family-friendly 1.5-mile route, and help raise another incredible amount for patients in Nottingham.

Sam Cousens, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “We’re so excited about the return of our ‘Big Six’ events in Nottingham this spring and summer. Our team work hard to put on a fantastic array of events, and each one of them is such a fun and fulfilling experience for our participants.

“We’ve got something for everyone – so whether you’re a daredevil who wants to jump out of a plane or scale down a building, or whether you prefer a gentle stroll in some scenic woodland, we’ve got the event for you.

“The best part is that, all the while, you’ll be raising money for your local hospitals right here in Nottingham, helping us to provide enhanced facilities, specialist equipment and local medical research right here on your doorstep.”
