Thanks to our supporters, we raised more than £17,000 for patients, families and staff at Nottingham’s NHS hospitals over the Christmas period.
As part of our festive fundraising, we received almost 1,000 sign-ups for our popular Christmas tree recycling scheme, raising over £11,000! Thank you to everyone who made a donation and signed up to have their old tree collected and recycled in aid of Nottingham Hospitals.
With the help of local businesses, community groups and volunteers, we collected trees from across Nottinghamshire in the New Year. Vans were kindly supplied by Sandicliffe, and an army of volunteer drivers and vehicles were generously provided by Mitchells of Mansfield and John E Wright. We also had support from professional tree surgeons from Orchard Tree Care and Woodthorpe Tree Services.
Special thanks goes to the Rotary Club of Nottingham for their team of volunteers, including Richard Taylor, who kindly chipped and recycled hundreds of the trees on his farm.
Alongside our Christmas tree recycling scheme, donations from our supporters also enabled us to provide gifts for children in hospital over Christmas. Thanks to donations to our Grant a Christmas Wish campaign, we were able to provide toys, games and technology to bring a smile to the faces of young patients at Nottingham Children’s Hospitals over the festive period.
Louise Knight, Head of Fundraising at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “We have been so heartened by all the support shown to the charity and the hospitals over the festive period. We are always so pleased to be able to provide gifts for both child and adult patients across our hospitals each Christmas, and this is all possible thanks to our generous donors.
“This year we were also delighted to see our Christmas tree recycling scheme back, even bigger and better than last year. I’d like to thank everyone who donated and signed up to have their tree collected, and I’d like to give a special thanks to the local businesses, community groups and volunteers who gave up their time, vehicles and equipment to help out with the collecting and recycling of the trees. We simply couldn’t have done it without the support of this fantastic team of volunteers.”
Over the festive period we also received special donations and dedications as part of our annual Lights to Celebrate appeal, which gives people the chance to dedicate a light in honour of a loved one, on one of our virtual Christmas trees.
Thank you to everyone who supported Nottingham Hospitals Charity over the Christmas period – your gifts help us to make a real difference for patients, families and staff at Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.
