Every minute one woman in the UK is diagnosed with breast cancer.
Nottingham’s Breast Institute is one of the country’s leading breast cancer centres, undertaking vital cancer research, enhanced treatments and facilities for cancer patients in our Nottingham hospitals.
Every year, we fund groundbreaking research at Nottingham Breast Institute, and by donating to our appeal you are helping its early detection, diagnosis and targeted treatment of breast cancer.
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted cancer patients and services across the country, so this year, our funding for vital cancer research in Nottingham is now more important than ever.
We gave £184,000 in 2017/18 for research carried out by Professor Stephen Chan, Consultant Clinical Oncologist, and his team. Together they have developed a gene test which indicates which type of cancer treatment the patient will best respond to. The project will enable clinicians to tailor each of their patients’ treatment programmes.
