During Volunteers Week, we wanted to shout about how incredible our volunteers are. All across Nottingham Hospitals, volunteers help patients find their appointments, offer support to visitors, and make a big difference to patients’ experiences at our hospitals.
At Nottingham Hospitals Charity, we work with a wide variety of volunteers and we wanted to share a few ways our volunteers are making a difference.
Christmas tree volunteers
Did you know that all our Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme helpers were volunteers? We had helpers from Sandicliffe, Mitchells of Mansfield and Orchard Tree Care. With their help, we collected almost 1,000 trees around Nottingham over four days, and raised over £11,000 for patients at Nottingham Hospitals.
The Pears Foundation
The Pears Foundation allows us to work with young people across Nottingham and help them become volunteers at Nottingham Hospitals. The scheme aims to encourage and grow youth volunteering in health and care and allows the volunteers to gain experience for future prospects.
Research volunteers
As well as helping patients find their way to appointments, our volunteers get involved in many different areas, including research. Andy Warren, who sadly passed away in 2022, was one of our many Long Covid Research volunteers. He volunteered his time into vital research into Covid-19 and Long Covid, and helped patients across Nottinghamshire and beyond.
Corporate volunteers
Local businesses enjoy getting involved in helping Nottingham’s NHS hospitals. From volunteering their time during special seasons to supporting our events, our corporate volunteers really make a difference to patients across the region.
Event volunteers
You might attend one of our events
and see some volunteers out and about wearing our Nottingham Hospitals Charity t-shirts. This year we have a few volunteers at the Robin Hood Half Marathon – so if you are there, head over and say hi!
Our volunteers help Nottingham Hospitals Charity give back to Nottingham Hospitals and support thousands of patients each year. We’re so grateful for everything they do.
